The deadline to submit a proposal for a presentation and/or workshop for the
18th Annual Sloan-C International Conference on Online Learning has been
extended through June 4.
The theme of this year’s conference is "At a
Crossroads: Online Education in a Complex World." MIT and Harvard
recently announced a new partnership to offer free online courses through edX.
Princeton, Stanford, Penn and Michigan are making similar plans through
Coursera. Changes in the world of online learning occur on a daily basis. Where
is it all headed? Our keynote speaker for 2012 is Sebastian Thrun , well known as the founder of Google
X (you know - cars that drive themselves, Google glasses, other world-changing
projects). Sebastian is also the Stanford Professor who co-taught an open,
online, Artificial Intelligence course to more than 160,000 students. He has now
started a new higher-education model through Udacity, which is striving to bring
free college courses to the world. Plan to present at and attend this year’s
conference and hear the most forward-looking keynote session in this Sloan-C
conference's 18 year history!
Proposals Must be Submitted by
11:59 PM Eastern on June 4, 2012
Conference tracks highlight and demonstrate research,
application and effective practices for online learning in the following areas:
- Open, Global, Mobile
- Faculty and Professional Development and Support
- Learning Effectiveness
- Technology and Emerging Learning Environments
- Student Services and Learner Support
- Leadership, Values and Society
- K-12 Online Education
